about
Juersson Hermanus is the artistic director of Luango Stories, a collective through which he explores culture and identity using movement and storytelling. Drawing on his Afro-Caribbean heritage, he weaves ancestral history into contemporary narratives marked by courage and connection. His work delves into themes of culture, race, gender, and identity, examining how these elements shape personal expression and inviting audiences to experience the richness of his roots.
Currently, Juersson is part of the Station Noord program in the northern Netherlands, which focuses on supporting and developing talented artists in the northern Netherlands. Through this program, he deepens his work and engages in new collaborations that strengthen his mission of cultural and artistic expression.
In addition, he teaches dance at the Lucia Marthas Institute for Performing Arts, where he shares his passion and knowledge with the next generation of performers, and he is officially recognized as a certified training company for MBO dance students in the Netherlands.
From his debut solo performance ‘Yu di Kòrsou’ to previous collaborations with X_YUSUF_BOSS, Donna Chittick, Club Guy & Roni, and Wabi Sabi Theatre, Juersson’s work resonates with Hip-Hop culture, Afro-Caribbean rhythms and contemporary dance forms.
After earning an acting degree from Noorderpoort College of Art and Multimedia (2015), he completed a bachelor’s degree in dance education at the Amsterdam University of the Arts (2019). International exchange programs in Bogotá, Senegal, Belgrade, Kenya, South Africa, and Italy further expanded his artistic horizon.
